1. Decision Making Flow Chart

Marty lead a discussion on having the NCLB team be the middle of the flow chart. The Board of Education is at the top because they meet and make the decisions. The sub teams would meet at team and grade levels. Then they would take ideas and issues to the NCLB, who would report the information to the Board. NCLB group members discussed ways to reorganize the groups for better communication with NCLB and the Board.

2. Testing and use of results

Marty has charted all of the testing that is conducted each year and at what grade level and time of year each test was completed. He is trying to chart how each test is being used by educators and how the results are being utilized. The NCLB members added some testing that is used in the different buildings and grade levels. At this time the first few columns were completed. Other information such as, use, cost, purpose, time of year, group who analyzes results, reports reviewed, and reports analyzed when will be completed at a later time.

3. Department and Literacy Evaluation

Leslie brought an evaluation form to the NCLB for teachers to consider using in departments. What do departments want to learn and need to learn? This evaluation tool can help departments determine how the vision of the Iowa Core is or is not being met. Is this a tool that we would want teachers to use or is this what we are already doing with Iowa Core?

4. Literacy Diet Conversation

5. RTI Overview

6. Substitutes through Ed Jobs Funding
We need to decide how to use these days and when to use them as there is a shortage of subs in the district and times need to be set.
Iowa Core time (reading, math, science)
Science text book
Co-teaching (time to plan and create lessons)
Technology time
(time must be used for curriculum time, Iowa Core time, DI, vision)
Marty has asked that building reps and department chairs go back and talk to people about time needed to get things done that will improve curriculum and better education opportunities for students. After discussions, reps and department chairs need to talk to building principals so times can be put in place.
